What are the best public engineering colleges in the US?
I have searched google for lists, but they always contain the private colleges like MIT and Stanford, but I want a list of just the public schools. Thanks.

I agree with the list provided by Hotness for top public universities in engineering (except for the spelling of Champaign). If you're looking for public schools for a lower tuition, I don't think schools like UW and UM are that much cheaper than MIT unless you are a resident. And MIT turns out far superior engineers, with much better job prospects. Two other schools to think about, Olin and Cooper Union, excellent engineering, free tuition.

Off the top of my head:
it also depends what engineer you want to be..
UC-Berkeley
UC-Los Angeles
UW-Madison
UI-Urbana-Champane
UM-Ann Arbor
