I have heard many things but I'ts still not clear to me, is it that only some locations take 14 year olds? If so which, I live in Brampton,

How do you apply, do you need a resumé, What do I have to do? I'm not looking for answers like, go baby sit or paperboy, I want an answer to my question . PS I'm turning 14 in March

Go to the locations where you want to apply and ask them for an application. Fill it out, give it back to a manager and hope for the best. Get the name of the manager and if you don't hear anything from them in about a week give them a call. It will show you are interested in the job and proactive about getting the job. Good luck.

    Tim Hortons Jobs In Brampton

In many locations there are city, county, and state laws that determine the minimum legal working age. Even in places where it's legal to hire a 14 year old, many places won't, because of legal restrictions. For instance, minors have restricted working hours...they can't be at work too early or too late, which means that they can't open or close the place. They also have a strict limit on how many hours a week they can work.

I have worked in several places. In the convenience store/deli/liquor store, the owner wouldn't hire anyone under 21, even as a deli worker, because we all had to work the register on occasion, which meant handling alcohol. Nobody under 21 could legally sell or handle alcohol. Also, a deli worker would have to use the mechanical slicer, and for safety reasons, minors were not allowed to operate the slicer, by state law.

I worked in a movie theater for a while. Nobody under 17 worked there, because we showed R rated films, and someone who was under 17 could not have entered the theater that was showing an R rated film. The management preferred to hire people 18 and older, again, because of working hours. 17 year olds could not work as late into the night as 18 year olds could. 17 year olds also were not allowed to operate certain machinery, like the trash compactor.

I worked in a retail clothing store, too. The owner wouldn't hire people under 18, and the manager was very unlikely to hire someone under the age of about 25. She felt that anyone younger was not likely to take the job very seriously, and would call in sick too frequently.

You can certainly ask at your local area shops, but I wouldn't even bother filling in applications until you know whether they'll hire a 14 year old. Oh, and resumes are not needed at such places, you just ask for an application. Plus, at 14, you don't have anything to put on them. A resume consists of education (high school, college, post grad) and jobs you've had. At your age, you don't even have a high school to list.

I would call and ask the age limit but I know for sure that Rita's Water Ice does and I think Chick Fila may also but I am not sure of McDonalds or Wendy's so call the ones in your area and find out.
