Mexico and Pakistan to suddenly collapse soon?

Numerous media agencies are reporting that the US military says Mexico and Pakistan could suddenly collapse, however, they do not give many specifics. What do you think would cause a "sudden" collapse? Do you think the USA government would be responsible for toppling these countries?

Update:

A Google search will bring up numerous links. Take your pick.

"Any descent by Mexico into chaos would demand an American response based on the serious implications for homeland security alone," it adds. However, a similar scenario in Pakistan would be catastrophic.

The US has been attacking Pakistan and has set India and Pakistan against each other - which wouldn't be hard

Mexico is likely part of a destabilize program as well -- but that one is likely to allow the US to "help" them

Both are areas the US happens to want to control --- so planting the seed they are in trouble only makes sense

Destabilize -- spin it the way you want it in the press --- invade and take it over

The source of this is a Joint Operations Estimate that suggests both countries' governments are losing control or have lost control over their respective countries.

With Mexico it is drug and crime interests. The government has little control over much of the country and when it tries to exert more influence the gangs retaliate by killing police or other government officials. Since Mexico is one of our nearest neighbors this instability is a serious concern, especially in border regions.

Pakistan's government--similarly--has little control over much of the country. Islamic radicals control much of the countryside and the border with Afghanistan is best described as porous.

The U.S. government would want both countries' governments to survive and attain more control. Especially with Mexico, a stable government would benefit us in many ways. A Mexican collapse could make the illegal immigration much worse than it is now, and right now it is pretty bad.

A collapse of Pakistan could result in that country coming under control of radical Muslims, which would threaten all of Pakistan's neighbors, especially India.

Estimates like this are often used to develop contingency plans in case the worst happens. A collapse of Pakistan, for example, might mean having to evacuate Americans. A collapse of Mexico might mean a need to send American troops to the border or into Mexico itself to protect our own citizens.

These estimates don't say the two governments will certainly collapse, but they do help prepare us for those possibilities. We can hope for the best.

The Russians took a 56% loss on the rubble and so it is not hard to see why small nations that need our trade and barely make it under normal situations would crumble under the strain of a declining world market.

The US military is still looking for WMDs in Iraq and Osama bin Laden in Afghanistan. I'm sure the drug cartels produce more than the Government. After booze and dope, what else do they have to export.

Mexico will collapse by design in order to usher in the NAU. Pakistan is just another reason for invading the Arab countries we are only a couple of innings into that crusade.

Do you have any links? This sounds like an interesting, albeit scary read.

  • Where will they collapse? Is there a big hole under them?

Gawdawful mess to clean up, I'll say that much.
