Jumping on the Wii bandwagon. What do I need to buy?
The primary reason for this purchase will be for Wii Fit and maybe some other games for the girlfriend. (My PS3 takes care of my manly gaming needs.)
The Wii console comes with one controller and one nunchuk, so I know I need to buy another controller and nunchuk. It looks like it might be cheaper to buy Wii Play (with remote) and a Nunchuk, right?
Do I need a recharger? If I don't have one how do I recharge the controllers? Surely not batteries.
Do I need the wireless bar? If I don't have this do I need to have the controllers plugged in when I play?
I know I need to buy Wii Fit and this comes with the balance board. Do I need anything else? (I don't plan on buying the mat and the socks.) Does the balance board plug into the Wii for a power source? If so, how long is the cord? If not, does it run on batteries? Does this need to rest on a hard surface or is carpet OK?
I'm not really concerned about accessories like the steering wheel, tennis racket, golf club, etc. I just need to know about the essentials.
Also, any help in buying all of this in a financially efficient manner would be much appreciated. This question is probably asked daily, so I appreciate your patience and thank you all.

Q. The Wii console comes with one controller and one nunchuk, so I know I need to buy another controller and nunchuk. It looks like it might be cheaper to buy Wii Play (with remote) and a Nunchuk, right?
A. Yes you need at least another Remote for 2 players though some games need a nunchuck too but most just need a remote for multiplayer. Remotes are $39.99 while Nunchucks are $19.99 If you get Wii Play it is basically like paying 10 more dollars for the game which is like Wii Sports so I recommend getting it.
Q. Do I need a recharger? If I don't have one how do I recharge the controllers? Surely not batteries.
A. You don't need a recharger. Though some people find it more better and cost effective to buy them. Wii Remotes run with 2 AA batteries. Personally for me I prefer to get batteries in bulks at a place like Costco then to waste time waiting for my batteries to recharge. You could also use rechargeable batteries. Recharge stations usually come with ports for two remotes and are around the 30 dollar price range.
Q. Do I need the wireless bar? If I don't have this do I need to have the controllers plugged in when I play?
A. The Wii comes with a sensor bar. And you can't plug in Wii remotes. If your sensor bar breaks or doesn't work then you can buy another one for around the 20 to 30 dollar price range. The sensor bar that comes with your Wii is wired though it has a long wire.
A. Ahh, again with batteries. Yes the Wii Balance board need batteries. 4 AA batteries for it. It comes with batteries though you're going to need to buy more. The Balance Board syncs to your Wii so its wireless and again like the Wii remote there is no wired option. It is recommended that it be on a hard surface because if it is on a carpet it can be wrong when calculating info like your weight and such.
You can buy all that you need at the store that sells Wii's like Wal Mart or Target. Some prices to keep in mind:
Wii Remote-$39.99
Wii Play with Wii Remote-$49.99
Nunchuck-$19.99
Charge Station-$30 and up
Sensor Bar-$25 and up
Wii Fit-$89.99
Normal games-$19.99-$49.99
Well that answers all your questions. You can message me if you need more info. I hope you can find a Wii as they're hard to find these days. And have fun!

Wii Fit is definitely a necessity! Unfortunately they are virtually impossible to find. Wii Play is not the funnest game but I would say it is worth the 10 dollars. A recharger is good but they do take double a batteries so if you have a double a charger you could use that so you can also charge other things besides the Wii controllers. For your girl friend I recommend buying Mario Party 8 it is the game that I have the most fun with plus four people can play it. You definitely do not need the wireless sensor bar. The controllers are wireless no matter what.
Have Fun!

Wow you have a lot of questions! I hope my answers will help. Okay... I got a Wii and love it. You do need a charger in order to recharge your controllers. My family and myself have a wireless bar, you need it in order to get a great connection between the controller and the Wii game. If you are going to buy the Wii fit that comes with the balance board you don't need anything else. The Wii balance board does not plug into the Wii. The Wii balance board is wireless too, it also runs on batteries. The Wii does not need to rest on a hard surface so putting it on a carpet is just fine. You can buy all of these items cheaper at Ebay.com and Bestbuy.com. I hope this helps =D and good luck!!!!

i'm having a guess ... no, hoping ... the subsequent 'huge ingredient' would be a entire rejection of 'new' technologies. The stuff we've got - mp3 gamers, desktops, home equipment - all suit our desires in the present day and then some. quicker or later, actual everyone seems to be going to coach their backs on companies that attempt to sell us the 'next huge ingredient' because of the fact it is the 'next huge ingredient'. as an occasion, Microsoft has for years been understanding the bugs on XP, and now that it is finally stable, they desire to thrust something new on us?!? i'm prepared to guess there'll be a substantial style of people who will say 'overlook it, Microsoft' and persist with XP. right this is hoping.
