Why don't American's understand how bad it is?
I went to a job fair recently and was shocked at how many people just haven't wrapped their brains around what is going on not only in this country, but now the world.
My question to you is; are you in denial about what's going on, or are you one that just doesn't care until you are pushing a shopping cart around the neighborhood with all your basic belongings?
My second question is; what are you currently doing in your life to brace for the rough economic times that will linger for years ahead?
Dogbreath, that's exactly my point...the sky IS falling. Washing out Dixie Cups sure won't do a thing and that was not my point at all. Too bad you fall into that category of being in denial.
Riley, I hate to break this to you but the entire world will soon be feeling the pinch too, if they don't already. We live in a "global economy" and that means what affects America will eventually trickle down to other countries...it's just a matter of time.
Now is the time to look into freeze dried foods, water purifiers, silver, bartering tools, pay off debts, move out of a huge city and watch for signs of people getting unruly.

The problem is you can tell an American till your blue in the face what is really going on. As all US media is filtered and highly modified from telling Americans the real truth. They still believe what they see and hear on American TV.
Many of us American expats told everyone in August 07 there was going to be a financial recession/ depression by October 2008 just before the election nobody believed us and bragged, until it happend and now can't help themselves.
Believe me, if you live in the USA at the moment only the ebb tide has arrived.
By the end of winter millions more Americans will feel a bigger wave once loosing there unemployment welfare benefits exhausting the 13 to 26 week time limit.
Making millions of more Americans to loose there jobs and homes, just before the long term tsunami when people living on there savings run out of finances for two years or more full financial depression.
Your new president admitted he hasn't got the magic wand to stop this happening or the sky from falling. Yet you'll see in the next few months cement headed people who live in fantasy complaining he's not doing enough blah, blah.
I'm glad you realize whats going on, there is plenty of work in Australia and no recession. If you want to get out and avoid selling eggs, eating lard and renting rooms out in your home to families.

I am sure that in your mind, if all Americans just stopped wasting money and started washing out those dixie cups and using them over again, we would be in better shape. Nope I think we would be in worse shape. In this dick-shriveling economic climate this would have the effect of removing more money from the economy. What people need to to is start spending money and stop thinking and behaving as if the sky is falling.
PS. Okay so maybe the sky is falling. What should we do? Commit mass suicide?

Because we believe Obama will save us and he'll cover the clouds and he'll make everything sunshine and rainbows.
