Cramps from hell! Can you help me?

I am having a horrible day. I've got the worst cramps in the world, and on top of that, I have some problems with my pelvic floor muscles cramping really painfully due to some issues with interstitial cystitis. It feels like this horrible stabbing pain that comes on suddenly and is so bad it makes me gasp. Everybody's had a bad day of cramps, but I cannot get the pain to stop. I've been in bed for the past 8 hours since the cramps started and I've gotten no peace.

The big problem is how bad heat makes me hurt down there. It just makes everything cramp up something terrible if there's already pain, so heating pads and baths are out, which is just awful. Even just having my laptop in my lap starts to make me hurt pretty quick.

Is there anything else I can do? Aleve and Advil and Tylenol aren't helping, and I'm dying to just have an hour without cramps. Help!

Update:

Okay, lemme clear something up. Midol is basically tylenol and caffeine, and I had a can of coke with a tylenol earlier for that reason, and it did not do a single thing. Pamprin is just tylenol and a diuretic, pretty sure that's not going to do anything.

Baths and heat pads are completely out, they make it worse. I'm also already on the pill, I just get a really bad period here and there.

Can someone please suggest something that isn't tylenol or heat pads? I am about to lose it if I can't get a little bit of peace.

Update 2:

Putting something cool on my stomach screws with my bladder too.

I don't have a GP, I'm in college and the health center is closed. I'm not puking, I just want to cry from frustration, so I'm not going to the ER.

I know what it is and I don't want to bother running up a huge hospital bill for them to just give me a shot of pain meds. Plus, I have translation work I need to do for class, and there's no way I can pull that off if I'm spaced out.

I think I might just be a hopeless case. :[

Sorry not much you can do unless you can find some better drug. Like oxycodone or Demerol

I have the same problem I have like 4 cysts on one ovary so when that ovary ovulates I get excruciating craps I can't walk/eat/sleep. I had to go to the emergency room every time, because I have a transplanted kidney so I can't take Advil or midol "midol is mostly Advil" Motrin..anything that filters through the kidney I couldn't take so it was unbearable.

So my gyn prescribes me Loratabs every other month.

I feel your pain. GOOD LUCK!!

  • I know what you mean I would throw up from the cramps that's how bad I would have them. You should take pain killers specific for menstrual cramps like midol or pamprin, also along with that you might want to take a tylenol pm to help you sleep. I would also take some chocolate, that could put you in a better mood. Believe it or not but maybe just going out for a walk helps too. If the pains are so terrible I would go to the ER or call your gyno.

Oh hun, I'm sorry. I have had this too. All I could do was take a bath, which might not help you because of the heat, and use a heat pad. I also took Midol extra strength and my bf had painkillers that he gave me. Honestly, nothing got rid of the pain, only made it a little more bearable. I made an appointment with my doctor the next day and she put me on Yasmin.

well if heat makes it worse you should try using cold packs, not the kind that gets hard when it freeze, but the kind that keeps the thick gel form. For freezing you can also try Skin Refrigerants. If everything else fails, check with your doctor so he/she can give prescription pain killers.(i know those will help). Maybe they'll give you a big 600mg tablet of something. ^_^ Hope that helps...probaly didnt but oh well i got points, i hope you dont have some underlying problem, probaly more than just cramps

There is a medicine for cramps. I think someone mentioned it, midol i think. It's for women and for cramps. Since your in pain and have been in bed, I think you should call a friend or someone to go to the store and grab you some. Also, try taking a bath. Fill the tub and sit in it. Im not sure if you'd still feel pain since its a hot bath but you might give it a try. But really If i were you, I would call a doctor. 8hours is alot for cramps, I think you should call the doctor and get his/her advice.

    Hope you get better soon♥

    I'm sorry if I wasnt a help.

    good luck.
