8:00-8:30pm. Really each child is different. It depends on how well they sleep and what time they usually get up.

Unfortunately..whenever they are ready..I learned this from my own children..At this age they don't know how to shut of their brains.I am not sure if you are looking for advice or just asking a question, but what I found that works with a child that age is to do a nighttime schedule.Have dinner, take a bath, read a story. They are always on overdrive at that age and you need to find a way to remedy it..So say you want him in bed by 8o'Clock,Tell him/her..ok you need to go to bed at such and such a time. Then in the interim, have bath and then some quiet time either a bedtime story(in his room) or do a puzzle or whatever.Dont watch tv or play a video game..that just keeps their brains charged. It may take a week or so..but it works.I would like to say ore but I have already written a novel

I put my 5 year old son to bed at 8 on school nights, he is asleep by 8:30 or 9. On weekends we stay up and play board games and watch movies, so the bed time changes accordingly.

What I do and was told to do was set my timer for the time to start the bedtime routine that way you can stop whatever you are doing and go right to putting on the jammies, then story time, then brushing teeth, and then hugs and kisses to good nights. It helps with staying on track of things especially if you are somewhat unorganized and need to learn how to stay on task; which is what I am like a lot. 8pm is a good time for your five year old. I would start the timer for 7:30 if he/she is not taking a bath on that day. I would start the timer probably by 7pm to start bathtime routine then go straight into bedtime routine afterwards on days that you give him/her a bath. This has helped tremendously. I hope it helps for you too. Good luck.

Hello Kelly
All though I am not a professional, however I am mother and I think that 8 is a great idea and maybe as early as 7 depending on how much sleep your child requires. I hope this helps.

It depends of what time the child starts his/her day. Pediatricians recommend that children that age get 10 ¾ - 12 hours per day. So a bedtime between 7 and 9 is the typical.

I'd be satisfied if my daughter went to bed at 9...she is always up late. But, I think 8:30 is more normal.

somewhere between 19:30 and 20:30 is normal. It heavily depends on how tired he is on the day. 5 Year old still should have their 12 hour sleep during the night.
