Meeting with religious 'leaders'?

I've been exploring some religions in order to be better informed in conversations with a few of my family members who are less than open minded and some of the things they say I know are wrong however, there are some things I'm not 100% sure of. I was wondering what the proper way to meet up with some of the non-christian religious leaders (Rabbi's, Imam's, etc.) would be as I don't want to be disrespectful and I'm not sure what the rules are regarding women seeking information when they don't belong to the religion. How can I be sure that I'm getting the "true" temples, mosques, etc.? I live in DC so finding the places aren't hard, I just need to know what to say on the phone when I call.

Ask to speak with someone who can represent the particular religion. Most Rabbis, including ultra-orthodox, will be willing to talk with you as long as you show respect for their beliefs and do not attempt to push your own on them.

I have found that knowledgeable Muslims are the same way.

Those are the only two groups with which I have had experience outside my own chosen path.

Women are allowed to ask questions in mosques.

Just start off with "I'm not a Muslim, but I have some questions, can anyone there help me?"

I live in the DC area, too.

The national Council of church homes meets oftentimes. there is not any Jewish counterpart to the Pope. Judaism follows distinctive commandments than Christians. The Vatican and Anglican church homes communicate.
