It was a funny movie from beginning to end. I also liked him in Buckaroo Bonzai Across the 5th Dimension. He was good in Santa Claus The Movie as well as harry and the Hendersons. I like his funny movies he does p[lay a great psycho to.

When John Lithgow played Dr. Amilio Lizardo in the clever movie: The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across The 8th Dimension.

raising cain.....john lithgow in my opinion is best either when playing a comedy role or a psycho role, his portrayol of the character in raising cain is amazing utterly believable and scary, but in a weird way his craziness is funny(i first saw this movie when i was about ten and for some reason-lithgows acting it scared me shitless). and i know its not a movie but i have to mention third rock from the sun, lithgow is just genius in that portraying an all wise powerful alien leader who on earth is actually a socially inept idiot who cant do nothing right, hillarious!!!

My favorite Lithgow performances are as the nervous air traveler in "Twilight Zone: The Movie" and as the kind bank manager who stands up for Debra Winger at the supermarket in "Terms of Endearment".

When I moved to L.A., Lithgow was the first celebrity I saw...my friend went to UCLA Law School and Lithgow was walking his dog on campus (his wife is a professor). I restrained myself from yelling: "I loved you in 'Santa Claus: The Movie'!"

Is there anything funner than watching Lithgow over the top, with that wide hair screaming John Bigbootie?

Harry and the Hendersons is by far his best movie in my opinion. He was just so terrific in that movie and no one could have played that part but him. I love john Lithgow:] Didn't he also star in tv commercials for soup or something? That was funny. His dark humor in harry and the hendersons is something I remember the most about that movie, and when he tried to persuade harry in the car with hamburgers, that part is priceless:D

Well, he was just a supporting actor in it but I loved his portrayal of Roberta (nee Robert) Muldoon in The World According To Garp.

It was a difficult part to play as it was a serious character but easily could have been made into a joke of a transsexual and the audience would have seen him/her as comic relief instead of the tragic yet strong character Lithgow portrayed on the screen.
