where is this ben franklin quote from?

"The man who trades freedom for security does not deserve nor will he ever receive either. "

I have seen many people quoting this on the internet, however I would like to know where this came from.

Is it published in a book? was it from a speech? where can I get or view the full text to which this quote was taken from?

Frankly, I don't think it was Franklin.

A huge archive of his works are online at:

    http://www.franklinpapers.org/franklin/framedVolum...

A search for the words "freedom" and "security" show no resembling species of the quote.

Until some reputable source is found, I have to conclude it was spawned and erroneously attributed to Ben Franklin... probably sometime after "9/11"

The number of variants of this on the internet might tend to support this theory.
