My cat is scratching at his whiskers and nose untill they bleed... help?
It has been going on for about two months now. He will scratch really hard until he either cuts up his nose or his whiskers start bleeding. What is the weirdest thing though is that it is only on one side of his face. Anyone know whats going on with my baby?!?
No it isnt neglect ... it got better after the first week he started because i took care of it. I thought he may have just gotten scratched by his borther while they were playing, but it has gotten worse over the past week. haha if you actually saw me with my cat you would say he is a spolied little prince BECAUSE THATS WHAT HE IS XD!

I would take him to the vet right away. I know financially that isn't always an option though. Have you tried looking closely under his fur to see if there are any fleas? It will look like moving pepper. If you do find some, go to your local pet shop and buy one of their flea shampoos and a flea collar (ask an employee which one works best). And make sure you wash everything in your house especially where the cat sleeps, if you don't you'll just have the problem all over again.
Although to be honest, if this has been happening for over 2 months now and all he scratches is his nose then I don't think that it's fleas because it would be all over his body by now and he would be scratching everywhere like crazy, not just his nose. So another option would be allergies and in that case you should take him to the vet so that they can try and help you figure out what it is exactly he is allergic to. Or you can try maybe switching his food to something with completely different ingredients.
I hope you figure it out! Best of luck!

I would say fleas or ticks! Rather take your cat to the vet or get him some medication now! I bet the poor cat cant stand them pests!

this has been going on for 2 months - take the cat to a vet now and have the cat looked at - this is neglect

It could be a food allergy. My cat was doing this too and I changed his food and it cleared right up.

i suppose it could possibly be ear mites as well. I don't know if this would affect the scratching of his wiskers and nose...but it's just a suggestion.
