My grown daughter is collecting SSI ($700 mo.) for illness. Is she eligible for food stamps in California?

She does not make enough to live on. I cannot take care of all of her physical and monetary needs. Suggestions?

Update:

She is 38 yrs. old, does not, nor has ever paid me anything---even for food. She is a diagnosed schizophrenic and buys methamphetamine with her checks. She recently spent 21 days in jail for attacking a stranger at a Carl's Jr. restaurant......I took her in four days ago, but she threatened to kill me if I didn't buy her cigarettes----flipped out, and I had to call the police after a screaming tirade in my house and back yard. The police said she was 'totally tweaked' and asked if I wanted to press charges. So far I have contacted 3 attorneys who all say that it is my responsibility to 'document' all of her jail time and hospitalizations. I cannot do so, because she is an adult, has not lived with me, and the privacy laws dictate that no one in the medical community will give me any info. I am at my wits end. She is currently in a tent in my backyard, alternately screams at creatures and entities of her own inventions. I watch her constantly and lock my doors....feed her. Help!

That depends on the total household income not just hers.

That is the income of all persons who take meals together in the household but would not include someone who rents a room but does not eat there.
