Why do ppl constantly say the East sucks?

Maybe that's what you call retroactive effect. Some fans stuck in season 2007-2008. The East have been much improved this season, even the once lauging stock Charlotte Bobcats have been as steady as rock in the end-games... I think the big emergence came when some of the top West stalwarts moved East-side with the continued movements I think the East will topple the NBA balance to their side in the next few years. Right now the Lakers is the only team to be feared in the West and even they fell victim mostly to Eastern teams.

Its easy to say those stats about the 2 best teams but you have to look at the overall standings.

To make the playoffs, the worst (8th place team) in the West Conf (Dallas) has a 0.603 record.

In the East, the worse team that can qualify for the playoffs is Milwaukee with a 0.459 record. This means that everyone in the East from the 4th seed Atlanta (0.569) down couldn't make the playoffs in the West, and teams in the East don't have to win as much to qualify.

People who say that really don't know much about ball. East does not suck. They have gotten alot stronger compared to last year.

West is still stronger though... East only has 2 great teams and maybe 2 more good teams.

West has from top to bottom(1-8 standings) all good teams.

the west is still stronger from top to bottom. the seven seed in the west will probably have a better record than the five or six seed in the east. there won't be a team with a losing record in the western conference playoffs, but the east is guaranteed to have at least one. the east is catching up, but it's still going to be another year or two before it is legitimately better than the west.

Probably because of the Lakers and Spurs domination in the best 10 years. But East has caught up I think and their top teams can compete with any of the West teams.

Those teams are bad cuz they compete in the best conference with average players at best, if they were in the east they would easily have 5-15 more wins...

It's because the east doesn't have great and versatile big men like dirk, amare, duncan, etc. plus the competition in the west always comes down the wire especially come playoff time...

AND last time I checked East had more wins over the West...

i think last year it was apprpriate to say that but i would say its pretty even since 2 of the top 3 teams are in the east
