    Moles NaOH needed = 0.500 L x 4.0 M =2.0

    mass NaOH = 2.0 mol x 40 g/mol= 80 g

    80 g of NaOH + enought water to reach the volume of 500 mL

    Volume = 500mL

    Molarity = 4.0M

    Molar mass of NaOH = 23+16+1 = 40g/mol

    Molarity = (mass of NaOH * 1000) / (molar mass of NaOH * Volume)

    Put Values,

    4 = (mass of NaOH * 1000) / (40 * 500)

    Mass of NaOH = (4 * 40 * 500) / 1000

    Mass of NaOH = 16g

    Dissolve 16 grams of NaOH, in water, in a beaker or volumetric flask and then make total voume of 500mL.
