Help! What do I do about my cat?!?

My cat whom i have had for almost ten years has started peeing throughout my house. She did it occasionally the past months but it got much worse after we got a kitten in December. We took her to a vet to make sure their was no health related cause and there wasn't. The vet suggested we put in a new litter box (we had 1 for 3 cats) and that helped for a bit but now she still pees around the house again. Her litter box is always clean and she is never stuck in rooms when it happens, she even goes outside time to time so I don't understand what is causing it and how to fix it.

The problem is if it isn't fixed by the time the weather gets warm my mom is making her become an outside cat. My cat is insanely close to me and means the world to be so I really want to be able to keep her inside especially since my friends outdoor cat was just killed by a dog so I'm extra paranoid. I would do anything to keep my cat indoors so how do I stop the peeing. Please, please help any of you with cat experience. What can I do?

Cats don't hold grudges! That is human behavior!

You cat is marking everything as hers for fear of losing to the new cat.

You need to tech her that isn't necessary.

For a while, keep her in a small room, like a bath room with her food, water, litter box, bed and toys. Don't allow the new cat in there. That is her place. Make sure you visit her often in there or even take her out and watch her, but put her back in there when you can't keep an eye on her. Be sure the other cat doesn't go in that room.

After her peeing ONLY in the litter box you can let her out more often with having to actually watch her.

I'd check again with the vet to make sure sure kidneys are in good shape.

Just because we think a litter box is clean doesn't mean it is. When you're in there with a very finicky nose, ankle deep the perspective is very different.

cats dont hold grudges? i doubt mine are the only ones.

i would guess a combination of problems. the new kitten is a threat, not enough litter boxes.

i would give her her own spot to hide in. a closet in your room. fix her a spot to sleep in the back, put food water and litter box in there. pile boxes around her with only a small space for her to get through.

do not let the kitten in this spot,.

when she smells the new kitten in the litter box, she doers not want to use it.

she is pissed off....my oldest cat used to find something of mine and took a crap on it when someone she didnt know came into the house, she got over it eventually but i wanted to kill her, your cat more than likely is pissed about the kitten...and if she doesnt have a bladder issue you need to let her go outside or get rid of the kitten..but it sounds like she is having an issue with her bladder and or kidneys because it started before the new kitten have you tried changing her food to one for urinary tract health..

Yup she is mad at you. Make sure you clean the areas where she has been peeing very well and make sure she has her OWN litterbox. Maybe put her in your room for a while with her own litterbox.

When i leave for a couple days, my cat will find something to pee on to let me know she is mad at me for leaving her.
