ucsb, ucsb, etc COLLEGE LIFE?

I've been accepted at UC San Diego (Muir), UC Santa Barbara, UC Riverside, CSU Northridge, CSU Channel Islands, and CSU San Diego. And I'm waiting on UC Irvine, and UCLA (doubt ill get into that one)

anywhoo, ive applied as undeclared for all these schools. so i cant really choose which is best for my particular major. im aware that the ucs are "better" than the csu's but my parents are set on me going to csun. how is college life at these schools? particularly ucsb and ucsd? tell me about them and which you think is a better pick (i want to know more than what is offered on each of the school's website)

Thank you :)

Like the previous answer, while UCSD has a better reputation (not by much though) than UCSB, it is pretty quiet and boring there. UCSD is nicknamed "University of California Socially Dead." If you want a college experience, I'd pick UCSB. I think that UCSB balances its academic life and social life really well. The students there study hard, but know how to have a good time as well.

The choice is yours, but if it was my decision I'd choose UCSB because of the following reasons:

    1. The beach is literally on the other side of the street

    2. Nice weather (though SD's weather is nice too!)

    3. A little closer to home

    4. Good social scene

Good luck on your decision & congrats on your acceptances!

Btw, UCI is pretty dead and boring too since it's a commuter school. & UCLA is a good balance too!

I would recommend requsting another catalog if the school really interests you.....Im not sure which school UCSB is (sorry) maybe they have special acholorships and club section in that book that is the difference between to two catalogs? If there is a difference in tuition costs. That would be illegal and discriminatory. A lot of colleges do that because they feel to send a catalog that "features" all blond haired/blue eyed students may discourage some african american students who may believe they would feel out of place and uncomfortable on campus and so ouldnt apply. By sending a "black catalog" it's the school's way of saying "sure we have black poeple" (lol). It's weird I had gotten so many "different" catalogs when I requested catalogs. Even som of the HBCU's (historically black colles and Universities) have a different catalog for potential students that aren't black. But I'd say go with your gut...if the school isnt that special to you, I wouldnt waste any time to even bother doing applications and campus visits. Good Luck to you and I widh you the best in yur College years!!! : )

yeah i go to ucsd and your lucky u got into muir. the GEs are really easy so graduating on time is not hard at all. School spirit does not exist and if you really want to get he "college experience" go to ucsb. im in frat and even then, the social scene is somewhat dead. A degree in science here though far exceeds ucsb and prob matches that of ucla. it is what you make of it.
