What are some good prog rock bands/albums?
I want to look into it a little bit but I have no clue where to start. What are some good prog rock bands to start with?

Jethro Tull - Aqualung + Thick as a Brick
Mix of early heavy metal with English folk and classical- awesome!
Pink Floyd- Dark Side of the Moon, Wish You Were Here, Meddle
Not so much complex as very sonically adventurous
King Crimson- In the Court of the Crimson King, Red
First album is dark creepy medieval-sounding stuff, the second
Traffic- John Barleycorn Must Die
Folk and jazz influenced
Yes- start with Fragile
Other bands with progressive tendencies might include 80s Metallica (Master of Puppets, etc.), Iron Maiden (Powerslave, etc.), and Tool (Lateralus is a great album, as the other guy mentioned). Dream Theater is progressive metal although I've never been much into them.

I think that Pink Floyd is a great prog rock band
Some of there best albums:
Dark Side of the Moon
Wish You Were Here
The Wall
piper at the gates of dawn
I also consider Rush

Tool is a little overrated, but their Album Lateralus isn't. It is absolutely brilliant. Start there.
Frances the Mute by the Mars Volta is unbelievable, if a little inaccessible at first.
Also, you probably already know about them but Pink Floyd is good prog rock.
EDIT: Also Dream Theater are said to be technically the best band in existence. Personally I don't listen to them but man they can play...

Rush is the best Prog rock band. Their best albums are moving pictures, 2112, fly by night

Pink Floyd ~ "Wish You Were Here"
Focus ~ "Hocus Pocus : The Best of Focus"

I agree with rush, they're a great progressive rock band.
Albums: 2112, and Moving pictures. both by rush.
If you've heard the song Tom Sawyer that's Rush.
