Has the stadium building for World Cup 2010 caused political havok?

I took a Google Earth tour of the World Cup venues and it appears that of the 10 venues, 5 of them are new for the event, 1 is having major renovations and 2 others are having minor renovations. I am wondering if this has taken a political toll on those responsible for this enormous expense or is the country more or less unified?

Harmony more that havoc I would say. Most people in South Africa are really excited about the world cup in 2010, so for any political party to start critisizing the cost of hosting this event would be ill conceived. Many projects associated with 2010 have created a lot of jobs, and the tournament itself should also give our economy a boost (or so we hope).

Generally speaking people in SA are unified in the fact that the hosting of the Fi fa world cup here in 2010 is all told very good for our nation in terms of show casing our country, employment that is drastically needed, investment in and tourism for our country.

It will provide great opportunities for SA and generally people are working together to ensure a great world cup.

In terms of building the stadiums on the labour front their have been a couple of hick cups with a few strikes that were relatively quickly resolved.

SA is on track on most fronts, providing sufficient public transport for all the visitors is currently experiencing problems with taxi owners protesting, shutting down major transport routes etc against the government introducing bus services to ensure adequate public transport, they believe their livelihood is at stake but hopefully this matter will shortly be resolved.
