I swear to you, any book by Ellen Hopkins or Sarah Dessen are great.

These are my recommendations for books you should read by the others:

Ellen Hopkins books: Burned, Crank, Impulse, Glass

Sarah Dessen books: Dreamland, Someone Like You, Keeping The Moon

Also, there is 'A Million Little Pieces' by James Frey, 'Rainbow Party' by Paul Ruditis, 'The Perks of Being a Wallflower' by Stephen Chbosky.

All really good books, I swear.

i would recommend vampire academy series by richelle mead. it's really good, up there right next to twilight!, although i didn't really think so until the 3rd book (great cliff hanger by the way, making me wait for the 4th book now). the mortal instrument series by cassandra clare is also really good!! so is graceling by kristin cashore. the host by stepenie meyer was also really good, but it's headed more towards the mature audience, because they tend to disappoint the younger.. the gemma doyle trilogy by libba bray was also pretty good.

i also heard the summoning by kelley armstrong is extremelly good, as well as the hunger games by suzanne collins, and wicked lovely by melissa marr...

try searching them on http://www.barnesandnoble.com/ to look at the ratings and reviews, it's reallly helpful!
