What are some must see's around the Northern VA area. Funky shops, scenic, historical, unique, odd.?

I'll be in the area mid June on a Friday and Sat - with a car - been to DC looking for something different. Any ideas?

Old Towne Alexandria has plenty of shops, bars, and restaurants, and is generally good for a couple nights. I'm partial to drinking a pint and listening to live music at one the Irish pubs, but there are plenty of live bands covering the whole spectrum. If you're into historical sights, there's Mount Vernon and the Udvar Hazy annex to the Air and Space Museum, and Old Town itself. If you're into shopping, head to Tyson's Corner or Pentagon City (Tyson's is much larger).

I stay magnificent on the fringe of the hot woodland and can be in it in approximately 5 minutes (taking walks), yet on the different area of me is the Fawley Refinery - no longer fairly so scenic! I artwork on the floor floor of an workplace construction and can't see a lot outdoors, yet then there is no longer a lot to work out right here besides.
