Where can I buy local honey on the island?

Are there beekeepers in PR?

Update:

Thank you Lady Dee. I am looking for raw natural honey. I have allergies to some pollen. It may sound funny but it helps me if I take a teaspoon of raw natural (local) honey once a day. My husband is Puerto Rican and we travel to Aguadilla often.

if you want raw natural organic honey, you may want to go to natural local stores, they usually have natural signs that say naturalist products.

if you want regular honey, you can buy it in any supermarket.

its very rare to have beekeeper camps in PR, there is bee hives in the country side of the island and Im sure there most be beekeepers in the middle of the island which is more preserved and country away from cities and noises. you may have to ask in a natural supermarket or call a tourism hotline to see were you can find and have access to a place like like that.

my grandfather was a beekeeper and he had lots of beehives in his acres in the southern area of the island in a town called arroyo, that place no longer exists because he sold it and they made houses. He died years ago when I was still a child and the only memory I have its him with no protection taking the honey out of the honey hives without getting stinged, its like the bees already knew who he was and he used it to sweeten bread and other foods, also for the skin.

Go to supermarkets chains like Econo, Amigo, Mr. Special, Selectos and check the labels. You may find honey from PR, Dominican Republic or USA.

Careful you don't buy honey syrup, which has water and sugar added. Real honey is expensive. Check out the health food stores.

You can find local honey in any grocery store here. I will warn you, I bought some and I didn't care for the taste. I've lived here for 10 years and only bought it once, and I threw it away after just one taste, it actually had an after taste that reminded me of garbage.

I bought some honey at a cafeteria/storefront shop in Calle Loiza, and it was so good. It was in the corner of Loiza St, and McKinley St
