Question about the Swine Flu?

My family and i are going on a cruise in 5 days. We will be traveling to Cozumel and Costa Maya Mexico. Are we at risk to be infected in those areas or do I not have anything to worry about? The cruise line has not canceled.

As of right now, there are no cases in the Yucatan Peninsula area, so I think you should be alright. I would say to ask your doctor if there are any precautions you can take. I would suggest bringing some type of medicine (if there is any available) and be as hygienic as possible. Government officials in Mexico and the US are being extra careful in airports and docks, I hear. I would say to go ahead and have a great trip. Enjoy the sun and just be hygienic as possible.

Every year it is some illness that scares americans. Remember Bird flu, Sars! Life is to short and sweet! In the end what is meant to happen will so enjoy your cruise! Im going to Bahamas in May, did Mexico in January and I am fine!

Maybe a little...But cozumel is a island separate from the mainland. And costa Maya...Well...Theres not much there and very little people.

The risk is there but life is too short to worry about such things. Enjoy while you can.

any time you are in close proximity to people you are at risk. But it's your choice to go or not. Piggy flu isn't especially deadly yet.

Well you go at your own risk. I certainly have no desire to go to Mexico. I did go one time on a cruise and would never go back there.

Like I said....you go there and happen to contract it, consider that they might not let you back into the USA and Mexico's health care is non existant.

at this point, your at risk anywhere... but id say your at higher risk if your going to mexico since its the epicenter of swine flu.
