Best full suspension bike under $2k?

I was looking mostly at the Giant Trance X3 and X4 or possibly the Trek Fuel EX 5.5 or 6.5. Is the extra money worth it for either of the two more expensive bikes? Between brands, any preferences? Any other recommendations?

out of the 3 you have listed, the x3 is going to be significantly better with shocks. if you are looking to save money and pay as little as possible, the trek ex 5.5 would be a great bike. I wouldnt go with teh 6.5 as the trance x3 would be better for around the same price.

Don't get too hung up on brand, there are so many good ones and it's more about what fits and suits you best, and which you like best. Giant, Specialized, Kona, Trek, Haro, and Fisher are just a few. Really it's best to leave the internet research for now and go to a couple of independent bike shops, look around, ask questions, and note down some makes and models which interest you. A good shop will let you test the bike if you leave a license or credit card.

I have a Giant Trance 3. It's very good. Since you're saying under 2k I think you would find it fine and good. Cuz if you wanted something really funky then you wouldn't bother with below 2k.

I would personally look into the Fisher line. You can get into the HiFi series for just under 2k.

If you're convinced you want one of the two you're looking at, I'd say the Trek 6.5
