What as are best non tourist places to visit in Pennsylvania ... the places family would take friends?

Well that largely depends what part of the state you're in. It's too big to traverse the entire thing and actually see something in a single day. But within any region, there is tons to see and do. Maybe you want to walk around Philly or Pittsburgh, drive around Amish country, ski the Poconos, go hunting in the Alleghenies, sail Lake Erie, etc.
