It’s the false TV news report heard ’round the world. Raleigh, North Carolina’s WRAL-5 reported last week that a 16-year-old bomb hoax suspect was hauled out of his mother’s home by federal agents, and is now being held without any legal rights on the authority of the 2001 USA PATRIOT Act, which “supercedes the Constitution.”

Ashton Lundeby is a real person.

He is 16 years old.

He was home schooled.

He was arrested at his mother's home in Oxford, NC, by federal (FBI) and state police about 10:00 pm on March 5, 2009.

The charge on record was "making a bomb threat".

Some have reported that multiple bomb threats had been traced to the Lundeby home.

The mother claimed during a WRAL-TV news report that this arrest was under the Patriot Act, but it was not. She is the one who made false claims. Those against the Patriot Act have been quick to spread this report. There is currently a gag order place upon the case so rumors abound.

The state police in Indiana can confirm his arrest. The federal courts in Indiana can be traced to several dockets regarding this case, including one currently scheduled at the end of this month (May 22).

He sure is, and it is astonishing that the mainstream media is not covering this. Back when the Bush administration would detain some jihadist under the Patriot Act the media and left were all over them. Unfortunately, he is a real person and he is in a juvenile detention center.
