I'm 69, active, healthy, read a lot, do mental & physical exercises daily.Yet I feel dementia is setting.Why?
I read on dementia & how to tackle the problem. I've been following those guidelines but of no avail. I want to know where am I faulting & what improvements should I follow to control the onset of dementia?

This is interesting,my Father is a similar age and i'm medically trained.I thought i saw the early signs of dementia in him.
It's got to be diagnosed,My Dad came back from a holiday from his home village and all symptoms were gone-i was even going to suggest he see his Doctor.
As you are active and prob have a normal blood pressure you may want to look at statins to reduce cholesterol,the plaque of which not only causes heart problems but does contribute to reduced blood flow or cardiac output to the brain.
A routine blood test for TSH may be in order or you may simply be over-thinking about your age at this juncture .
I think brisk walks in friendly places are a must- go somewhere you really like and spend a week away from same surroundings and see if you still feel you are in decline and keep in touch!

You should consider going to a therapist who will assess your dementia with a series of tests, such as the WAIS IQ test, RBANS, and Wisconsin Card Sorting Test. That way you will find out if what your experiencing is normal for someone your age or is more serious.If its more serious, there are some steps that can be taken to try to improve things.
