Smells can do a lot. I don't why.

Get a box of crayons and smell them. You will remember something from childhood.

I don't know about you, but a lot of people seem to have songs that remind them of certain times, certain people, certain relationships, etc. Music usually works for me, and there are several songs that will forever be attached to the past for me. For example, every time I hear songs from Carrie Underwood's first CD, I remember winter time in Michigan--snow all around and just feeling happy. And I just end up thinking, "Gosh, I miss Michigan," and it starts triggering all these other happy times and things about Michigan. I used to sit and watch the snow from the window of my room while those songs were playing, and that's what triggers the memory.

Call up your childhood friends. Go to google search and find your school buddies. If you have moved out of your home town, try locating it on the inter-net. Lot of memories will come back to you. Lastly, close your eyes and think of your mom and dad, brother and sisters, a flood of memories will be opened.

memories are in our brain... I agree pictures n stuff help but if the memories are worth enough to be recalled they wont be dependent on this stuff.
