Why wont my truck start?

96 GMC Sierra 4x2 4.3 V6. Please read carefully before you tell me it needs a tune up or battery or fuel pump. The truck is fuel starved. Replaced fuel filter, fuel pump and screen, fuel pump relay. All fuses are good. Engine turns over but won't start. Tries to start when I spray starting fluid in the throttle body. Otherwise just turns over. Is getting spark obviously or it wouldnt try to start with starting fluid but I tuned it up anyway. Replaced plugs, plug wires, cap and rotor. Used a flashlight to look in the tank at the gas while I was changing the fuel pump and saw no signs of water or anything but clean gas. Truck has locking gas cap. Engine would run ok for awhile before then stumble a bit and sometimes wouldnt start after I shut it down. Now only tries to start with starting fluid sprayed. What else would cause it not to deliver fuel to the engine? Is there maybe a reset button? Pulled only 1 code for upstream 02 sensor and have not replaced that but that wouldnt give me a no start situation. Im stumped. Thanks

Pull the fuel line out of the throttle body, hold a bottle under it, and turn the ignition to turn the fuel pump on. If feul comes out, the injectors might need to be cleaned at a specialist. If it doesnt, then the fuel line is blocked or crimped somewhere.

    EDIT

To the people that said its the pump, THE GUY SAID HE PUT IN A NEW FUEL PUMP!

Do the test that i've mentioned to see if fuel is coming to the tb 1st.

Is there any way the fuel supply and return lines could have been reversed at the connection on the fuel pump.

Or maybe the fuel pressure regulator is routing too much fuel back to the gas tank and not enough is going to the motor.

One other thing to check is whether the injectors are getting the signal to open. You can buy an injector test light to see if they are getting power.

Ok . Throttle body = TBPSensor 1dirt in it 2 no signal

    Fuel injectors Same as above

I have even seen it be caused by a bad gas cap. My father had a 94 Bonneville pulled up for gas , got some , left the station but stopped at a mart and it wouldn't start again check engine light was on wouldn't fire or anything , until he checked the gas cap , it wasn't tightened right. Started right up. You might need a new gas cap.Good Luck.

Well I think the reason your truck won't start is one of two reasons ...

    1, God doesn't like you

    2. The ghost in your house has now become the ghost in your truck

<3 don't forget you can borrow my station wagon ;)

lemme know if you need me to bring it to you.

I'd check for fuel pressure with a gauge, start there.

A warm battery cable to starter shows severe resistance or a foul cable. you may desire to interchange it. and you may desire to get rid of the starter. And in doing which you may desire to verify the starter and consistent with threat when you consider that age of auto in basic terms replace it as properly.

it sounds to me like you have bad fuel injectors. if they are functioning proper, then your timing or cams may be a little off. that is really a predicament you have on your hands. oops, shoulda gotten a ford!
