In many Asian countries, including Singapore, they do eat rats. A large part of the population is poor so they eat what they find or is available to them. This is why if you go to an Asian country, it is always important to ask what the food is made of, especially if you buy from a street stand.

Asian countries will not only eat rats, but also dogs, cats, chicken heads and feet, animal brains, scorpions, worms, snakes, worms, beetles, starfish, grasshoppers, roaches, etc.. Many of these are thought of as a delicacy in those countries.

So, if you ever travel to an Asian country and you buy something to eat grom an outdoor food stand, it is important to ask what the food is because it may be something you do not want to eat.

A large portion on the population in Asian countries are very poor. So they don't have the money ot even government assistance such as food stamps to help with feeding their family. So they eat what is available to them, which is often rats, dogs, cats, etc.. They will feed it to their families and even set up food stands on the street and sell it to people, especially tourists.

So, some people in Singapore, primarily the lower working class people, do eat rats and other animals and insects they can catch in their neighborhood and it costs nothing.

Best of luck. Hope I helped.
