A corruption of the word "Owned." This originated in an online game called Warcraft, where a map designer misspelled "owned." When the computer beat a player, it was supposed to say, so-and-so "has been owned."

Instead, it said, so-and-so "has been pwned."

It basically means "to own" or to be dominated by an opponent or situation, especially by some god-like or computer-like force.

"Man, I rock at my job, but I still got a bad evaluation. I was pwned."

The first answerer is essentially correct. It came from multiplayer online games and is a slang term for "owned" or "ownage" meaning beaten or otherwise defeated. It came about because when people were typing fast they would accidentally type "pwnd" as a typo instead of "owned". The typo evolved to become a slang term. Fascinating, isn't it?

It started as a typo an an online game (i think runescape or WoW) and when a person 'kiked someone's ***' they meant to type 'owned!' but instead typed 'pwned' it caught on from there...

    it means you got owned.

    Which also means:

To be made a fool of; To make a fool of; To confound or prove wrong; embarrasing someone: Being embarrased.

    it means "owned" or ownage.

it's like when someone gets "burned" like someone beat them at something or like someone gets hurt and they go "oh u just got owned!" or something like that.

Source(s): http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=pwn... that website has a bunch of different slang that people use today so u can look up stuff like that there.
