I worked for Waffle House for 16 years in all ten years ago. I still know the lingo and the drills?

But I am now 53 years old. and find myself needing to return to the workforce after taking care of my disabled husband for a long time now. I loved the job and I KNOW the job, but am I too old to go back to it? Do people respond to older waitresses these days. I'm not slow, I could probably run circles around most of the youn people working there now.

Some of the lingo has changed (they've added a FEW things)...and WH definately will hire older servers...especially if you're able to cook.

Yes, get back to making lots of tips due to your competence , experience, and good work ethic. You'll receive a lot of repeat business from guests once they see that you are back to work and take care of them in a mature, efficient manner. Too old to go back? No way. The only people who don't respond to older servers are high school students, and who cares because they don't have any money anyway. Run those circles, baby, and good luck to you!

I personally care more for older waitresses, like yourself, than for younger ones. You are a dime a dozen and you are more attentive to your customers than younger people who forget things the second they are out of sight. Ones like you are more caring, personable and lovable then some younger food service people with tattoos and piercings that'll scare you. Let me emphasis "some younger people" - I'm not throwing them all in the same basket here. I hope you are able to go back to doing what you love.

I think you should go for it. I see older waitresses serving in restaurants all the time.

Go for it, i see no problems here.

You'd probably land a job real easy with your experience
