Does it matter if you make sign of the cross on your left hand?

I would say no who cares where you but a cross unless in the bible its a sin to be left handed then don't put a cross there.

I don't think so...but i think the tradition of making the sign of the cross with your right hand came from when people thought the left sin of the body was the evil side....in latin the word for left is sinister.

this was also why children who were naturally left-handed were forced to learn to write with their right hand...right up until victorian times in Britain!

Strictly speaking, yes, It does matter. The left hand is on the supposed evilside of the body and should not be used.

Edit - Look it up. According to Catholic Doctrine, the left side is evil, bad, incorrect, as another answerer put "sinister" is the literal word for "left" in Latin. Lefthanders were considered to be in consort with the devil, many of them burned for being witches. Because of this, Catholic blessings are by convention given by the right hand not the left. As crossing oneself with the "sinister" hand would be a bad idea in anyone's book, it is conventionally done with the right. Not the left.

Yes. It is only done with the right hand - if you do it with the other, its considered incorrect. I cant find anything website that says the significance of why the right hand has to be used though.
