My dog is sick and vomiting?

I have a Lab retriever, 8yrs. old,110lbs, very active until today. A few hours ago he vomited, mostly mucus and small amount of solid. after vomiting he seemed energetic again, and then just a little while ago he vomited again, his temp is 99F, he doesn't seem bloated, but his vomit sort of smelled like feces, can anyone tell me what is going on?

Update:

Wow, thanks, I really appreciate all the quik responses, (except for the one idiot). There is no way he could have eaten anything because he did not have access to anything to be eaten, (except food and water in the house) food brand has been the same for 10 mos. How about a little baking soda and water? Vet. said dogs systems are very much like ours, and have the same sicknesses and remedies. The Pepto sounds logical too.

Temp is fine, but I would call the local vet hospital - ask for a tech and let them tell you. He may be having other issues, or can be treated with pepto bismol (upset stomach) . But you need the vet tech to tell you how much for his size. Keep a close eye on him and I hope that all will be okay in the morning!

I'd give your vet a call. He might have gotten into something he shouldnt have to upset his stomach and make it smell that way. Is he eating grass or anything to help him throw up? Did the vomit solid look like feces? Maybe he ate some animal's feces outside and it caused a stomach upset?

He may have ate something he should not have. or he could have a blockage or partial blockage in the intestines. You should be calling your vet or an emergency vet to see what is going on. They need to check him, maybe x-ray the stomach and check some bloodwork. Do not offer any food, and just very small amounts of water, unless he is still vomiting.

He might have eaten something outside that didn't agree with him. This kind of thing usually passes quickly though. So if he isn't better in another couple hours, you might want to call the vet.

sounds like he ate something. Is he moving around, etc. Was any pesticides, fertilizer, etc put on your yard or anywhere he could of been today? Keep an eye on him - if he throws up again, go ahead & call vet.

Yes. Your vet can tell you what is going on. It is ILLEGAL as well as IMPOSSIBLE to diagnose, prescribe for, or treat any animal unless you are a VETERINARIAN.

Sorry your dog isn't well but you ought to know this.
