When should I update my resume?

I was looking for a better job, but took a high paying temp job. I like the temp job, but I am away from home for months at a time. Meanwhile company H has invited me for an interview. When I applied, I was working for company W.

My head hunter told me not to tell company H, I no longer work for company W. He thinks it will only confuse them. But I feel by not telling company H, I am lying on my application. What should I do?

Don't lie on your application. If you took a high paying temp job then it validates your worth in the marketplace as an employee. There's nothing shameful about a temp job in this recession.

Just tell them whatever will get you the job.

If you do a good job for them, and six months later they're like "Hey you lied on your resume" nothing will change, you'll still have your job. The company mostly just wants to know that you can do the job well, and you're not going to steal from them. That's it.
