Widows XP log on question... skipping log-on screen?
We have a single account, the guest account is not activated, we have no password, and we would like to skip the "chose user" screen for log on.
Essentially, we would like to open our laptop and skip straight to an open Outlook calendar (programs stays open during close-top standby) rather than going through the 10-15 second process of re-logging on to the one account.

Go to your Control Panel, open up the User Accounts, and click "Change the way users log on or log off" and then unclick the box that says "use the welcome screen."

Click Start, then run and enter this: control userpasswords2
The user accounts window opens uncheck the box which states 'Users must enter a username and password to use this computer' and apply.
You will be asked for the username and password of the account you wish to automatically logon and for following restarts of your system.
If you later want to add a password, do the same steps but this time check the box.

It's easy:
First you need to log in as an administrator and then: follow this visual aid http://www.tweaksforgeeks.com/XP_Skip_Login.html
Tip:
You could also acces the user Accounts windows by clicking on Start ==> Control Panel ==> select user accounts.
