Usually the company will be asking you to give or invest something. The web is replete with fake companies, investments and businesses. But i always go to there website. If it looks fake, it's probably fake. (fake or scam companies don't usually have an HR dept). If it's a MLM chances are it's fake. If it's on craigslist and the don't offer a company name or contact info with a name, it's probably fake. If it comes with an instructional video and testimonials it's probably fake. Always check rip off report and the BBB. Make sure if the company is listed by the BBB it has a high rating. Don't ever give anything and don't give your cell phone number. Most important check to see if the company has changed it's name. If it has, run for your life.

A huge sign is when the grammar and spelling are horrible. Another sign is when the person continuously talks about how good the offer is...if you are telling me its the "Best Job Ever!" or "No Layoffs Here!", chances are its a scam. If the job is one that should require some degree of experience and yet the employer states that it will train, this is usually another sign.
Aside from those, I stay away from any job offer that is put out by an Employment Agency...as a general rule, the jobs that they have listed on job boards are only to draw you in...once you get there you are usually told that they don't actually have jobs paying as much as they stated in the description, and likely that they aren't even placing for that particular job anymore...I had this happen to me about 4 times before I stopped applying for them. This is not to say that Employment Agencies suck though...they are good if you go in knowing what to expect, and contact them for an appointment instead of the other way around...that is the only time I have had success with them anyways.

Hi, Dylan , I'm sorry but I haven't had much experience in this area. I don't as a rule engage in phone offers, written, ads, etc. The best advice I can give you or anyone, is depending on what you are referring to there are consumer protection numbers and other numbers of the same fashion that you can usually check out before you delve into something you are not sure of. Usually when something sounds too good to be true it isn,t. I'm sure you can obtain these numbers via the info line in your area .If you don't have an info line you can probably find them on google.
