Spain only won two golds in athletics and both happened when Barcelona hosted the games in 1992. Since you're only looking for the first Spanish gold medallist in track and field in the Olympics. That distinction belongs to Daniel Plaza who won the gold medal in 20K walk on July 31, 1992. eight days later, Fermin Cacho won the 1,500 meters.
