Why wont my wagner power painter draw up any paint?
I used the thing once a few years ago and it worked. The motor runs fine. I replaced the piston and spring, as well as the atomizer valve, the paint hose and cup. I replaced everything thing but the pump housing and motor. I turn it on and the motor runs but nothing else happens it doesnt suck up any paint. Are you suppose to prime it somehow? I lost the directions. Thanks
I cleaned the motor housing too.

Try running water through it. If that works try thinning the paint. The power painter works on a vibrator system so some paint may have
gotten in and dried so it will still vibrate but not have enough movement to operate the piston.

These sprayers are notorious for not working like advertised. Personally I have returned three different models that did not operate without clogging and tip needing to be constantly washed. Only by thinning the paint to the consistency of water would the darned things spray without clogging.
And this was confirmed when I called Wagner. Their solution----return it to Home Depot for a refund. Home Depot wasn t very happy about that.

Hi,
Check the pump housing, they along with the spring & piston are the first to go. Take the piston (no spring) & allow it to fit into the opening on top of the housing, if you feel it catching (not freely moning 100%) then the housing is bad. There is either small paint particles or most often a burr on the inner sleeve. The housing is like a $40.00 part, thats why i buy reconditioned ones for about $45.00 at our store (no discount on refurbished items) most have interchangeable parts, tips, atomizer etc.

If you are trying to form some sort of analogy. It would be correct to say a painter is to a painting as a creator is to a creation... What your saying is like saying a painter has a painterer.... hmm...

It sounds as if one of the internal seals that helps to create the vacume is bad. This is common when something like this stands around for a long period of time. The seals dry out. Best place for a fix is a place that fixes pumps. One test you might try is to put your hand against the uptake hose end when the motor is running. If you do not feel any sucking against your hand, your problem is in the vacuum pump.

you are supposed to prime it but it would be my guess that you did not clean the steel ball in the suction tube as for priming there should be a valve on the side of your sprayer I don't know your particular model but there should be two settings one for priming and for painting

check the nozzle for clogs and maybe the paint is too thick or the dials are set improperly
