Need help with Birth control, whats your recomendation?
I currently use the depo shot and when I started using it I gained 50 lbs really fast. I've been using it for about 2 1/2 years and I can NOT loose weight, not even a pound. I am no longer gaining weight however. I have tried everything to loose weight, and nothing will work. so I need a new birth control that will allow me to loose all the weight I have gained since the depo shot. I would preferably want one that reduces or gets rid of my period like the depo does, and it does have to be something that is not daily. does anyone have any suggestions?

Depo is so hard on your body. My midwife won't even give depo to anyone because there are other options that are much better. I really like the Mirena. I don't even have to think about it except to check that it's still in place once a month and it last for up to 5 years.

I had a friend who was on the shot for almost 3 years and she gained 40 pounds. Right after she got off it se had her period for like over a month it would stop for a day or to then start again. It got so bad the doctor made her take test to see if she was miscarrying. She wasn't it just was from not having her period so long. She has been off the shot for like 4 months now and she lost all the extra weight.
I asked my doctor about it and she said that the depo shot is the only proven birth control to make you gain weight. If you like that you don't have to deal with a period on the shot maybe try Seasoniqe you only get four periods a year.

Depo is horrible on your system, and shouldn't be used for long periods of time. Maybe try the BC pill that you only get 4 periods a year.

I had the Mirena in for a year and i had to get it taking out because i had a period all the time and I got it taking out in March and found out that I was pregnant on June 2 2009 and now am having problems because all that is showing in the u/s is the sack and not the baby. So i would think about the Mirena before you get that one.

My OB/BYN told me that the shot usually makes women gain weight becuz it has a hormone in it that increases your appetite. If you have noticed that you are hungrier since the shot, "grazing" which is where you eat frequent smaller meals all day instead of 2 or 3 big meals will help. Besides getting an "IUD" thats the only thing I can think of that would help.

Maybe the implant. You know the rod they implant in your arm. I've heard that it makes your period stop or if not stop then it's only very light each month. Havent heard of anyone gaining wait yet. look it up on the web xx
