How do you achieve high marks (e.g. distinction) on your papers in university?

I would like to know any tips that you use to achieve good marks on your essays/papers.

    Need more information from you - depends what discipline you are in. Social Science papers are different from English papers; Engg papers are different from Geography ones.

    The main point is to have a strong position or thesis - and an innovative one for sure. Citation is a big issue as well.

    DO not listen to the above poster - most profs will penalize you if you go over the word limit.

    see a tutor and get some help.

    if the requirement is a minimum of 4 pages, try for 5 if possible.
