Forty years ago today, what were you doing?

I was glued to my parents B/W TV. Watching mans greatest achievement.

Politics did not matter that day. For a few short hours the world became one.

When will that happen again?

I was 10 and my family was on vacation in a cottage at the beach in Hampton Bays, Long Island (the cheap, family Hamptons at that time). I remember watching the grainy pictures of the first moon walk on TV. Then we all went out to the beach and blew up fire crackers, lol.

PS, I used to worship Jules Bergman. I wanted to BE Jules Bergman!

Yeah, me too - with Walter Cronkite(R.I.P) narrating.

That was a special day, a day when like you said, we all pulled together and marvelled at what NASA accomplished.

    Cool memories.

We all came together again on 9/11, but strangely enough we're in the middle of our economic 9/11 and half the country refuses to join in to help. Times sure have changed.

I wouldn't have been born for another 20 years, but I was probably on the Internet.

edit: Sweet, still can't get enough of me, eh trolly?

edit: Aharon: I'd rather have a brain than a backbone any day.

your parents must have been poor.in 1969 every middle class and up had color tv.people were driving Cadillacs and buick rivieras and buick Electra's.the kids were cruising in GTO's and mustangs.by the way, politics did matter since we were in the cold war and we were at war in viet nam and the liberals were going apeshit.I had just gotten drafted and was on my way to viet nam in the next six months.....sorry to rain on your parade, however, that is the way it really was.

I was swimming in my fathers balls and I was a gleam in my mothers eye. In other words, I wasn't born quite yet.

I wasn't even born yet. So I was still a potential seed in my fathers balls. LOL
