Pro rata is the latin for 'proportionally' or a 'proportion of'. It means that the salary quoted is what a full timer would receive for the same job. Your salary will be calculated according to what proportion of a full-time job your hours make up. For example, if the salary is quoted at £18,000 pro rata (based on a full time week of 40 hours) and you are working 30 hours per week, you will be paid an annual salary of £13,500.

The salary quoted will be for a person working full-time in that job. Pro rata is the latin for 'proportionally' or a 'proportion of'. The stated 13,000 - 14,000 is the full-time salary and you would be paid the proportion that's equal to the 20 hours of work.
How much this part-time equivalent is will depend on how many hours the company considers full time. For example, if a full-time post is considered to be 40 hours a week the wage for a part-time worker working 20 hours per week for 14,000 will be:
20/40 x 14000 = 7000
As you can see, you will need to find out how many hours the company considers to be full time and what the actual salary full time salary would be.
