Medical question about Endometriosis?
OK this is a little off topic ... so I have heard that pregnancy can 'cure' endometriosis. That's what my OB said, but I suspect he was over-simplifying it for me :)
My question is, how could it be 'cured'. Does so much of the endometrial lining get shed in the birth or afterbirth process than it totally rebuilds itself to a level you'd find in puberty?
I'm 32 weeks right now, but I had stage 2 (mild) Endo before pregnancy which made it hard to get pregnant. I'd like to try again in a few years and am just hoping the Endo will have gone away :)
Thanks everyone!!
Thanks ladies -- I got pregnant on my first cycle of Clomid after TTC for 27 cycles, age 38.

my mum had endometriosis and the doc told her that if she had baby it would also cure it, I think its because like you said the lining is shed during birth which would not happen any other way in such a degree (i.e your periods even tho they are probably really heavy and horrible.)
Hopefully if you dont have any symptoms after having this baby then yes it will have gone! good luck
