Best art museum in Rome?
I plan on visiting Rome next year, so I want to know: from your experiences in Rome, what is the best museum (preferably an art-oriented one) that you have seen? Please provide a couple reasons as to why.

Definitely the Galleria Borghese, which is housed in the Villa Borghese in the Borghese Gardens. Not only does the collection include magnificent examples of Classical, Neo-Classical, Renaissance and Baroque sculpture and painting, but the setting itself is magnificent. You can also book tickets online in advance, which is a real bonus.

The Vatican galleries are of course magnificent as well, but I found them just too overwhelming and the queues are awful. The Borghese is a much more compact collection of uniformly outstanding examples of European art.
I haven't visited it myself, but I believe the Galleria Nazionale d'Arte Antica (National Gallery of Ancient Art), housed in the Palazzo Barberini is also excellent.
