Heartburn in pregnancy .... timing?!?

So here's what I don't understand....

I know that if you eat big meals, late in the evening, then lie down immediately, you're going to run the risk of heartburn especially in the 3rd trimester when the stomach is distended from its normal position (thanks to the baby).

What I don't get is that I can eat a normal meal, sit upright for 3+ hours before going to bed, sleep comfortably for 4 hours, and THEN suddenly the heartburn strikes! What's going on?!

I get heartburn drinking water & sitting upright for hours on end. I don't think there is a rhyme or reason to it. Good luck!

I had heartburn from 8 weeks until the delivery. I had intense heartburn during labour and was swigging from a Gaviscon bottle. My doctor told me it was because of the stomach acid and the position/movement of the baby pushing everything up back into the throat

  • When you find the answer to that one, let me know .... I have the EXACT same problem. And nothing seems to help. Thankfully I'm going to my next appointment in a week so I'm going to be asking my doctor if there is something other than the 5000000 tums I've been eating to take.

idk, i usually get the worst heartburn when my stomach is empty, maybe that has something to do with it.
