How can i burn my hd mp4 video to dvd?
Hi. I bought a Sanyo vpc-wh1 xacti waterproof camera. It records onto a sdhc memory card in mp4 format. It came with Nero software which wont even open the video i took, it will only play the audio. It also says i need a blu-ray/hd plug-in and has a link to buy it from nero. Nero's website has the latest version for around $70 but says the hd/blu-ray plug in is "no longer available." I have been trying to figure out how i can upload my hd video and burn it to a dvd so i can watch it on my hd tv. I read about Roxio software, which got bad reviews, Pinnacle software which got bad reviews, and so i am really wanting some answers. What does everyone use that has these new hard drive camcorders? I dont just want to keep it on my computer with no back up and not be able to have it on a dvd. Why is this so hard?

there are several things you can try...
MP4 files use a DIVX codec (a codec reads the Video file code and creates the picture you see) to play...you can go to DIVX.com to download the codec needed to play the video as well as a player. The software includes a bunch of adware, so be aware of this when you install the software.
You can also download the latest version of Quicktime. I'm not sure if Quicktime has the proper codec INCLUDED with the download to play the video, but you'll make use of quicktime. This is what I would suggest you do first

Unless you're going to buy a blu-ray burner you're not going to get HD - DVDs use SD MPEG-2. You can copy the video files to DVD as data, but they won't play.
fwiw, DivX is a flavour of MPEG-4, but not all MPEG-4 is DivX. Your camcorder uses H.264.

I've been using Ashampoo for these very special "burning tasks". You can download it for free here http://bitly.com/1lAVfoW
It's a very simple and nice software.
Cheers.
