Why is my hamster so fat?

like humans! they play along but cant play along as couple but friends! animals are like humans.

sometimes, fatness is natural. even a man i know who exercised a lot and still get sick and passed away!

You may actually be giving him too much food without even noticing it. Try to read the label on the back of the food bag. I had a male hamster and he got pretty fat as well. He was just a fat jolly hamsters. Plus they get bigger and more round the the females so that could also be a reason.

As for the mating thing. I would guess they just aren't attracted to each other. Not all hamsters will mate.

maybe hes just growing, or hes eating the females food

or, im sorry to say, he could have a tumor. this is a lump that grows, and often it doesnt affect the hamster for ages. i would get him checked by a vet if possible, just in case

about the mating, they couls both be the same gender(i dont know the circumstances)

females come in season about once every 4 days. you can tell this has happened when her private area goes red(sorry theres no other way of saying it really)

Are you feeding your hamster a lot of those bagged treats from the pet store? Those are just like feeding your pet candy lol! Maybe try some fresh greens like broccoli or even carrots. Are you sure they are male and female? Maybe you have two females and one is showing more dominance over the other.

Maybe they mated and you didn't see it and it back fired and he is the one that is pregnant!! ( HA HA)

How fat exactly? check the food amount again, did you feed the other one same?
