How it is possible to see your whole face in a mirror that is obviously much smaller than you face.?

The same way you can see the Grand Canyon if you're looking through a peep-hole.

Now replace the peep-hole with a mirror the same size, and turn your back to the Canyon. Still in view? Of course it is.

The size of the aperture has no effect on the size of the image. It only affects the angle that the image subtends.

I believe that it's all based on a persons field of view. If you could imagine standing near the Washington Monument... you would not be able to see the entire building by looking straight ahead. It would require backing up to maybe a block or so away to see it without looking up. Since your field of view goes out in a cone-shape from your eyes, the amount of viewable space gets larger as you stand further away from the objects that you are viewing. A small mirror will reflect that same image of your face based on your proximity to the mirror. If you back the mirror up then you will see much more... draw it closer to your eyes and you will see much fewer things.
