Guiding Light fans.....need a hug?

I asked this question earlier today, but for some reason it was removed, so here goes again.

I just want to say thanks to everyone on Yahoo Answers for their questions and comments.

Also, a big THANK YOU to the cast and crew (past & present) for all the years of entertainment, joy, tears and laughter.

And lastly.....I raise my glass to Irna Phillips.........may she and "Guiding Light" Rest In Peace.

I am a woman in my forties and I have been a CBS soap fan for years and Guiding Light was my all time favorite even through the lame years, but I thought it would bounce back. Sadly I have to watch as the Light fades forever. I know its a soap but I have seen my favorite characters go through many trials, good and bad. GL helped me tell my mother what my uncle did to me through the Beth/ Phillip storyline in the 80's and when the Lewises and Reva came they were my favorite family. Hell, I like them better then my own family at times. Well Cbs lost me as a loyal watcher of their shows.

  • A big ((Hug)) goes out to all the very talented Actors/Actresses that made this show so memorable to watch, and also to all of us fans that have stuck through the good and the bad for so many years! I have yet to watch the final episode(has not aired here yet), but I am willing to bet I will be crying my eyes out, just like I have done all of this Week. I can not believe that after 72 years the show is finally coming to an end. It is heart breaking to all of the fans and the cast that have loved this show for so long. I have watched even when it was not so great, and I stood by the show no matter what and it breaks my heart that CBS and others did not even consider what they were doing to the Actors and the Fans. In my opinion they were selfish about the whole thing and instead of fixing the problems they took the easy way out and canceled the LONGEST running soap in daytime history(Pathetic)....I am sorry, but it just pi**** me off that they really are doing this.

On a happier note, I would like to Thank that Cast and Crew that made Guiding Light shine so bright for so many years. I will never forget the memories and many emotions that I went through with this show. Even though the show is ending, it will never be forgotten. GL paved the way for many of the other soaps that are on today, so they are a part of history and no one can take that from them. Guiding Light will be very much missed. I don't think that it has fully hitten me yet....I will keep in touch with the Actors/Actresses that I have emailed through out the years. I will also cherish all of the Autographed Photos that I have gotten through out the years! I am just so sorry that it has to end.

To All Of The Fans Out There....Thank you for showing your support to the show. I want to thank everyone that signed petitions and emailed everyone and anyone that would listen. Believe me that meant something, even though ultimately the show was canceled. At least we know that we went out fighting for this truly historic show. I know this is going to be hard for awhile, but I think it's great that we have Y!A to come here and support each other....You will never be forgotten GL!!!!

Another sad day in soap opera history....another because in my years of watching soaps so many have been cancelled...some that were not on long and then ones like GL that have been on for years.....hope this will be the last one for awhile.

I wish that the writers wouldn't have killed Alan's character off it was bad enough we lost the soap without losing Alan to.

I just seen the last GL and was disapointed

Where the he// is Jeffery....still playing cat and mouse with Edmund.....while Reva and their son thinks he is dead? Not right! I hope the writers that wrote for GL do not write for the remaining soaps.....because they can't write the viewers and fans could have done a better job! I want Alan and Jeffery back!

    THE LIGHT IS OUT!
