Will a Fender neck fit on a Squier Stratocaster? Will a Squier neck fit on a Fender Stratocaster?
If I have a Stratocaster Guitar body without a neck on it, am I able to choose whether I put a Fender neck or a Squier neck on it? Can I put a Fender neck on a Squier Stratocaster? Can I put a Squier neck on a Fender Stratocater? Is there any difference between a Squier neck or a Fender neck when it comes to fitting on a guitar?

Hello! This question is the source of a great deal of misinformation. The bottom line is there is only limited consistency between Fender bodies and necks. Both the width of the heel and the thickness has varied slightly depending on specific model, year produced, and country-of-manufacture. Having said all that, most American and Mexican necks and bodies within the same manufacturing era are interchangeable. In regards to the Squier models, the heel thickness and corresponding depth of the neck cavity is generally different than the MIA and MIM Stratocasters, and may require undesirable modifications to fit properly. The only reliable way to tell for sure is to accurately measure your part, and ask detailed dimensional questions before making a purchase. Best regards, Dana
